OpenAI CEO Says AI Will Take Human Quality of Life to the Next Level

As the current CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman has long been vocal about both the positives as well as the negatives of AI as it exists nowadays. In spite of the fact that this is the case, his recent statements confirm his strong belief that AI will result in a net positive for humanity with all things having been considered and taken into account. To be more specific, Sam Altman stated that AI will represent the single most profound upgrade to human quality of life in history.

He said these statements during an interview with the Guardian, and with all of that having been said and now out of the way it is important to note that it is a marked change from the warnings he has been giving as of late. Altman seems to think that the benefits of AI tend to get drowned out by all of the doom and gloom, and he is trying to shed more of a light on the positives than might have been the case otherwise.

Altman has recently been trying to raise awareness for Artificial General Intelligence, which will be miles more advanced than current AI. AGI will be revolutionary because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up thinking for itself just like a regular human being, and that might sound dangerous but it is also clearly going to boost quality of life in numerous ways.

The CEO’s tendency to play both sides is a breath of fresh air in an industry where innovators only seem to want to say good things about their products and services. While he has signed on to consult with governments and tell them about the potential risks of AI, this just goes to show that he is not blind to the advantages either.

AI tools have already benefited people by making life easier. It will be interesting to see what it might be capable of down the line after it becomes more advanced, especially if AGI is finally created by the mid 21st century.
