What Makes Consumers Love the Digital Media Revolution?

The concept of being able to stream any type of song or content from your phone used to be considered a pipe dream. Mobile internet speeds were not nearly as fast as they are right now about ten years ago, and that made such platforms seem less likely to succeed than might have been the case otherwise. In spite of the fact that this is the case, streaming has become a huge deal, and the digital media revolution is definitely something worth taking heed of.

Statista Consumer Insights just put out a report that highlights the various things that make consumers so eager to check out the digital media revolution. Around 54% of consumers who responded to this survey stated that they want to be able to access all of the songs, movies and TV shows that they enjoy across all of their devices.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that the quality of the audio and video tends to matter quite a lot as well. 41% of the people who participated in this poll stated that they wanted to make sure that the quality was top notch, and that has spurred digital media platforms to offer higher quality whilst sacrificing streaming speeds in the process.

Additionally, 39% of digital media users stated that they liked how streaming platforms recommended new and interesting content for them to enjoy with all things having been considered and taken into account. 32% also indicated that digital media was far easier for them to sort through, since it did not require them to deal with any physical or hard copies of the content that is in their possession.

Interestingly, 25% of survey responders stated that they still prefer owning hard copies of music and video content. This trend is taking a downward turn, but it just goes to show that the digital media revolution is by no means all encompassing. Still, it is a major preference for the vast majority of users, and this proportion will likely go up in the future as digital media becomes more advanced.
