The world of social media is blooming and new trends continue to arise each year.
Today, we’ve got a recently published article by Edison Research that sheds light on the most commonly used social networks for 2023. The report by Infinite Dial is based on statistics taken from a survey held during the year’s start.
Around 1500 participants were included, and their ages were 12 and above from the US. After being enrolled, the authors decided to weigh down the data to figures arising based on the national population.
As per the results are concerned, users claim that Facebook happens to be the app that they use the most. The figure was a massive 46% while in second place came Instagram at 18%. Third place went to TikTok at 14% while Twitter stood at 7%, Snap at 6% and then we had Pinterest trailed behind at 3%. Other than that, 6% revealed how ‘other’ social platforms were of their utmost concern.
But the authors did admit that while the popularity of Facebook is definitely there as most people use it often, we need to remember how the popularity is waning. And it won’t be long before we see a new winner at the top of the list.
Based on age preferences, 74% of those in the 55 and above age bracket found Facebook to be the app of their choice. This was in comparison to 55% of those in the 35 to 54-year age bracket. Meanwhile, the younger lot who were aged between 12 to 34 had only 20% keen on using Facebook the most.
Clearly, this means Facebook is more popular among the older generation than the younger ones. The results from the younger age brackets proved how Facebook declined 14% between the years 2022 and 2023 in terms of people finding it as an app that’s used often.
Users falling in the 35 to 54 age group also showed a decline of 6% between 2022 and 2023 in terms of calling Facebook the app they use the most. And then those aged 55 and above showed a 3% decline in similar statistics.
So it wouldn’t be wrong to mention that Facebook’s use is waning.
