How Has Social Media Impacted Users’ Lives? This New Survey Has The Answer

Undoubtedly, social media has become an incredibly huge part of our life today.

It not only affects the way we communicate with others but often with ourselves as well. Furthermore, it keeps us aware of things taking place in the outside world as well as our own personal circle of friends and loved ones.

So as you can see, it impacts our life in more ways than one including our mental well-being. But did you know that when used too much, the effects can be detrimental?

Thousands of researchers are taking center stage which proves just that. And recently, YouGov America sat down to conduct a poll to see how exactly social media has taken a toll on the lives of Americans of today. Be it for better or for worse, the respondents were told to provide honest feedback.

For starters, people were asked if social media had positive or negative effects on their mental health. As per the results, 29% claimed it had neither a positive nor a negative impact. 21% said it had a negative effect and 15% said it had a somewhat positive effect.

11% said very positively while the same number of people said very negatively. And then 8% were not sure while 6% claimed to not use social media at all.

Then the research went on to the next level to question if social media users ended up taking extended breaks from social media, owing to the fact that it was causing a negative impact on them.

Interestingly, 55% said no while 36% said yes. Meanwhile, 10% said they were clueless as they had no idea.

After that, the poll questioned what people really thought about the invention of social media. Was it really a good thing or a bad thing for all of mankind.

While 38% said it was good, 29% disagreed. 25% said it wasn’t good or bad and the rest weren’t sure.

So as you can see, there was a mixed back of responses from those hailing from the US. Some people were feeling great about the advent of social media but others, not so much.
