If there is one feature that Google offers which has become a core component of how people use the internet, it’s Google Translate. Countless users all around the world tend to utilize it because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up making it easier for them to understand different languages. The tech juggernaut has just added yet another feature to this tool which might make it even more useful than might have been the case otherwise.
With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that the upcoming upgrade for Google Translate owes a huge debt to Google Lens. If you have ever used Google Lens, you might be aware of its AR Translate feature. It turns out that this exact same feature will be incorporated into Google Translate for web.
What this essentially entails is that users will now be able to use Google Translate detect text in images. Not only that, but users will also be able to translate this text with all things having been considered and taken into account. Going to the Google Translate website would reveal a brand new tab which you can see in the upper right corner.
This tab allows you to upload images, and you will be able to translate the text from these images into whatever language you are interested in. Around 113 languages are being supported right now, but in spite of the fact that this is the case there will likely be a lot more that will get support in the near future.
This new feature is being given the Lens Translate branding. That will better incorporate it with Google Lens, and it will give the product a much greater push moving forward. Google’s translate feature has been a stellar success so far, and this upgrade will do a lot to make it as ubiquitous as Chrome, Google Search and many other Google IPs that have shaped the internet for decades to come. The next upgrade will likely take things even further.
