When Chat GPT was first released and became an overnight sensation, many began to wonder when it would start to make its way into professional life. Countless people have already admitted to using Chat GPT for a few basic tasks, even though such a practice might be frowned upon or even outright prohibited by their employers.
With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that Microsoft appears to be bucking this trend. According to a memo that was leaked recently, Microsoft was quite open about the existence of Chat GPT and gave its employees permission to use it to fulfil their daily targets and goals.
In spite of the fact that this is the case, the manner in which Microsoft employees can take advantage of Chat GPT is not exactly restricted with all things having been considered and taken into account. Microsoft has expressly prohibited its workers from sharing any kind of sensitive data with Chat GPT because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up allowing the data to fall into the wrong hands
That makes sense considering that Microsoft is an investor in Open AI which is the company behind Chat GPT. They would not want their employees adding any data to the algorithm that might result in them losing their competitive edge.
Another thing that should be mentioned is that Microsoft is not the only company to have adopted such an approach to the AI chatbot. Amazon made some similar statements as well, more specifically that their employees can use Chat GPT so long as they don’t enter any data pertaining to Amazon’s intellectual property or anything else that could be considered corporate intelligence.
We are entering a brave new world, one where using Chat GPT is no longer going to be something that employers can clamp down on. Major tech companies are welcoming Chat GPT with open arms, and it will be interesting to see what other companies in which other industries end up following suit.
