We could soon be seeing WhatsApp rolling out a number of updates for Android users as recently reported by Wabetainfo.
For starters, WhatsApp is testing some new changes in terms of text status updates. And while the feature could soon be available for a number of beta testers, we’re not quite sure when the company plans on rolling it out for the masses.
So, what can users expect in terms of the new text interface? Well, there’s going to be a new footer being incorporated. After installing the new update, users will see emojis, background colors, and texts now at the top of their screens. Hence, Android users will see the changes that iOS users are already seeing on their WhatsApp.
Moreover, Wabetainfo has also shown how the redesigned captions if already enabled will now be seen in the new text statuses. Another point worth mentioning is how the new caption view will enable you to alter the audience that sees your current status.
For that, users need to go directly to the privacy settings in WhatsApp and that will determine who actually gets the status update in the future.
Alongside these minor text updates, Wabetainfo has also revealed how the app is working hard to introduce rich link-based previews whenever users share links to a user’s current update.
Wabetainfo put up screenshots that showed the difference between the new and old versions. Hence, Android users will now have the luxury to see much better previews of links but we’re not quite sure when the feature rolls out as it’s currently under construction.
Therefore, we just need to keep an eye out for more updates from the company and we’ll also keep you posted up on new developments as well.
