In fact, most of the 3 million new broadband customers in 2021 also decided to get cable and phone connections set up alongside their internet. 2020 saw a massive uptick in the number of broadband connections that people were trying to get set up, and while the numbers in 2021 are not quite as high they are still a sign of strong growth within that industry.
However, it should also be noted that most of the internet provides in the US are also cable providers. Hence, customers often get the whole package because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up making their charges a bit lower in the long run. That indicates that this growth may not be all that organic, although it’s by no means a mandatory feature which suggests that some customers might still see a little bit of value in these kinds of packages.
With companies like Verizon moving into fiber optics territory, the internet speeds that people would be able to use are likely going to increase dramatically in the near future. Most companies have managed to protect themselves from cable cutting so far, and they are moving further into internet provision to compensate for the obsolescence of that service. Still, it’s only a matter of time before cable and phone connections become things that you can only see in history books.
