The north and south poles are the coldest regions in the entire world, regularly seeing temperatures that are in the negative ninety degrees to negative hundred degrees Celsius range, especially during this time of the year. However, it turns out that the temperature at the South pole was actually a pretty reasonable -11.5 Celsius, and while that might let the scientists posted there enjoy a bit of relatively good weather, it does not bode well for the future of the world.
With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that this temperature is about seventy degrees higher than it should be based on the averages that have been recorded over the past few decades. Scientists are concerned because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up indicating that climate change has truly started to impact the world all around us, so much so that humanity might have a lot less time than we initially thought.
Many scientists are calling this a massive heat wave the likes of which have never been seen prior to this point in history, and that means that we might be too late in terms of preventing the climate catastrophe from happening in the first place. There have been an extra six warming events every year since 1980, and if that rate of warming continues the polar ice caps could melt completely far more quickly than people have previously thought likely.
It’s clear that time is running out, and unless world leaders take some truly drastic steps to reduce the impact that climate change is having on the world all around us, the future seems pretty bleak indeed with all things having been considered and taken into account. This is something that can have a wider impact on the world as well because the melting polar ice caps will flood the oceans with fresh water which might upset delicate ecosystems and ruin environments on the other side of the world.

The final high on 18 March in Concordia was -11.5 °C recorded at 04:27 UTC. It is the hottest value observed in manned stations of the Antarctic Plateau in 66 operational years

At Vostok on 19 March 06Z measured -31.0 °C. It looks normal but is lower than the old monthly record pic.twitter.com/EC02b9LjRG
And there it is, Concordia broke its all time record temperature by 1.5 °C. This is when temperatures should be rapidly falling since the summer solstice in December. This is a Pacific Northwest 2021 heat wave kind of event. Never supposed to happen. https://t.co/VOW70Ioshv
