The metaverse is one of those buzzwords that many people in the field of tech are using quite frequently, but in spite of the fact that this is the case not all that many consumers are aware of what it truly entails. Despite the relative lack of knowledge regarding the facts behind the metaverse, it has become a pretty exciting piece of tech for people to look forward to and members of the younger demographics are already starting to see a future where it will be a big part of their life.
According to a recent report released by Microsoft, 51% of Gen Z respondents said that they expect to be doing some of their work through the Metaverse in the next couple of years. 48% of Millennials also said the same, and it makes sense that younger people will be more comfortable with the idea of a new form of tech completely upending how they get things done since they have already gone through several such paradigm changes in their short lifetimes.
With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that this is not restricted to just Gen Z either. 37% of Gen X and 28% of the Baby Boomer generation also expect to start working through the metaverse, and there is a strong chance that they might have to attend virtual meetings and perform various other tasks by jacking into the metaverse so this expectation is in line with current trends with all things having been considered and taken into account.
Out of the over 31,000 people that participated in this survey, only 16% felt that they would not have anything to do with the metaverse at least as far as their professional lives are concerned. However, the shift towards remote work during the pandemic as well as the increased desire among remote workers to keep working that way might make them more amenable to the thought of working inside the metaverse, with many of them thinking that this is a natural progression of that phenomenon.
