Software giant Microsoft is planning to notify users who have installed Windows 11 on an unsupported personal computer. Previously, Microsoft, despite cautioning users to not install Windows 11 on a device that does not meet the requirements, still allowed Windows to run and kept receiving time-to-time updates as well.
However, now the company is taking it more seriously and has notified users that such devices won’t be able to receive any future updates, including the important security updates that come along with Windows 11. As a result of this action, the device's security and functionality will be at risk.
According to Albacore, a tech information leaker, who posted on the Twitter account about a reminder that will be displayed on the screen of a PC if someone decides to install Windows 11, or may have installed it on an incompatible device. According to the support web page of Microsoft, if any incompatible device faces any issue after installing the respective Windows version, the company will not be responsible under manufacturer's warranty.
They even introduced a way to prevent people from getting caught up in this confusion. Microsoft added a link for the PC health check application. This application can be used to analyze the system and conclude whether the device is compatible with Windows 11 or not.
On the other hand, if a user has installed Windows without checking the requirements and is now notified with caution about the possible damage that can be done to the system, they’ll have ten days to undo Windows and move back to Windows 10. Recovering to Windows 10 in a ten-day time period is easy. All that needs to be done is to just go to settings, open the system, and click recovery.
After ten days, the files that can bring back the previous version of Windows will be deleted to maintain storage on the respective device. This is why, in order to protect the device from not being able to perform well, Windows 11 shouldn’t be installed if it doesn’t meet the eligibility criteria.
