A great way to check out any and all changes that are coming to WhatsApp is by checking out beta versions through the Google Play Beta Program. The latest update, as per WABI, that is coming to the messaging platform has to do with voice notes which have become a popular way for people to stay in touch since they can be used in situations where typing might be difficult for you and it is more accessible for that reason as well.
With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that there has been a flaw in WhatsApp’s voice notes feature that has been quite frustrating for most users. This flaw is that if you want to listen to a voice note, you will have to remain on the chat window of the user that sent it to you which means you can’t check other chats while listening to the audio.
That’s something that WhatsApp is trying to change according to the latest beta test that they are conducting. The messaging platform is going to roll out a new UI that will enable you to keep listening to the audio even if you navigate away from that user’s chat window. You will notice a bar at the top of your app that will allow you to pause and play the audio, as well as skip it entirely if that’s what you want to do.
Suffice it to say that this is highly useful because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up allowing users to expand their usage of voice notes in general. The UI also shows a progress bar which makes it a complete package for checking voice notes. However, this is currently in the testing phase, so it is not yet known when the vast majority of users will get to use this feature.
