Meta owned WhatsApp is working on a new upgrade for the desktop version of the application. This update will be a part of version 2.2149.1
The new feature that will be introduced in the update has been named "My Contact Except," which is currently under development and will be a part of the future security and privacy update.
According to the preview shared on by WABetainfo, the new feature, My Contacts Except, can be seen under three sections including display picture, about info and the last seen of a user. If the option is selected, then the user will have the authority to handpick contacts that will be able to see the above three sections of the user.
The feature will most likely be available for desktop users soon after WhatsApp releases the update for Apple’s iOS beta users as well as Android users.
Another feature that was recently announced is that the application is also working to empower group admins to remove unwanted messages for everyone, even if the message was sent by someone else. Once a message has been removed, the users will be notified with the statement "this was removed by an admin". This update is also in the works, and it may soon be available as a beta version for Android users. No such final release date has been shared by the developers, but it can be expected that the future version of the application will be the gateway for the two updates making their way.
