Corporations often spend a lot of money on cybersecurity because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up protecting them from the financial impact that hacks and the like can cause. However, despite all of the effort and money that is put into this endeavor, many corporations still have relatively lax security with all things having been considered and taken into account.
With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that a recent report released by Positive Technology revealed that it would only take hackers about two days of work to hack even the most highly secured corporate networks. That’s a really short period of time especially when you consider how dedicated malicious actors tend to be in this regard as well as the number of attempts that they are willing to implement before they give up.
The research was conducted from the middle of 2020 to the middle of 2021. The truly concerning thing here is that researchers were able to gain complete access to corporate networks and systems, so pretty much none of the techniques that have currently been put into place are all that effective which does not bode well for the future of corporate security at all. In fact, it suggests that hacking a corporate network is perhaps easier than it has ever been before.
These researchers also tried to simulate events that would result in significant financial loss or other types of unacceptable scenarios. These events came about 71% of the time. This indicates that there is a lot more work that needs to be done before corporations can safely say that they are secured from all forms of financial attacks. Such attacks can cost lots of money and make it difficult for these companies to keep doing business.
