China has been a notoriously difficult market for many social media platforms to crack due to its government’s unwillingness to allow foreign influences to impact its citizens. Said platforms try to make the most of things regardless because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up allowing them to crack one of the biggest markets in the world, and the same goes for LinkedIn.
With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that LinkedIn is now going to be discontinuing the Chinese version of its platform in favor of launching a new platform that its calling InCareer. The purpose of this new app is similar to LinkedIn with all things having been considered and taken into account, and it can be accessed by visiting the Chinese URL extension for LinkedIn so that former LinkedIn users can be integrated seamlessly.
However, there will also be certain changes that would be made so that it is the sort of thing that is a bit more suitable for Chinese audiences and the like. The social feed that most LinkedIn users have now gotten used to is not going to be available in InCareer, with the app being more focused on helping its users build out their professional network in a wide range of other ways.
There would still be various connection opportunities such as recruiters being able to message you, however. Also, users would be able to control how their profile looks so that any and all potential recruiters would have an easier time ascertaining whatever it is that they are looking for. This has a strong chance of helping LinkedIn crack the Chinese market in a way that few other platforms have been able to do these couple of decades.
