After two years of being independent, in 2012 Facebook bought it for 1 billion dollars. Now it's owned by Meta.
The mega tech company always gives new updates and surprises to its users. At the (almost) end of 2021, Instagram chief Adam Mosseri announced the three more features in a video, published on Twitter. The features are profile Embed (only for the US users), Reel visual reply and #IG playback.
The "Profile embed" feature allows the user to embed a miniature version of their profile into a website. The new feature also enables users to further merge their Instagram profile into a website. Mosseri additionally said that this feature extends on that idea, allowing you to embed a miniature version of your Instagram profile on a website, which will help you show your Instagram content on a website somewhere if you want to. According to Alessandro Paluzzi Instagram is also planning to bring the profile embedding feature on Web.
Reel Visual Reply is the second feature announced by the mega tech company. In the new feature, users can reply to comments on posts with reel, video replies which will occur as stickers. This new feature is much similar to TikTok video replies which TikTok announced last year to give its users additional entertainment.
There was no surprise when Meta management announced this feature considering the popularity of TikTok's features. Instagram is not alone to do this. Pinterest has also rolled out this feature after a few days of Instagram's announcement.
The third and my favorite feature was announced by Mosseri in his video. The IG Playback Stories, as it's the end of the year, this feature is also associated with special year-end memories. This feature allows the user to compile up to ten stories from the archive and share them with friends through stories on
