This modern day and age that we are living in has made it so that there is a diverse range of career options that you can end up choosing from. Becoming some kind of TikTok influencer is arguably one of the most popular ways for people to go about doing something or the other of this sort, but it would be hard to believe that an individual with a day job would risk that in exchange for something as imprecise and unpredictable as making content on a platform that is often rather difficult to understand.
With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that a European study recently revealed that around 10% of the labor force is planning to quit in the next six months, and instead of finding a new job they might try something new. That would be earning money from social media platforms or ecommerce, so suffice it to say that there are quite a few people in the world’s wealthiest continent that have enough faith in the content creator lifestyle that they are willing to take the risk.
This goes to show that the internet has completely changed the manner in which people are capable of earning any kind of money at all. About a third of Europeans in this study already say that they earn money online as a side gig, either by selling something through ecommerce platforms or creating content for platforms such as YouTube and TikTok. A sizable chunk of these people also claim to be focusing on NFTs and the like which is one of the newer ways in which people can start to acquire financial independence through numerous online platforms that are now widely available to them.
This might put a lot of pressure on companies that felt like they didn’t have to raise wages. Many corporations operate on the assumption that they are free to do as they wish to a certain extent because people wouldn’t be willing to risk financial security, but this survey shows that there are too many options now for people to tolerate a lifestyle that does not suit them. Earning money from online platforms can often help people to obtain a better work life balance and enable them to break free from the types of jobs that might not pay them all that much for their time.
