This is a feature that Twitter was testing out in order to make it so that users could help the algorithm judge what kinds of content they actually wanted to see which is something that would help users determine whether or not a tweet was to their liking as well with all things having been considered and taken into account. This test, as per Jane Manchun Wong, is now being conducted on web as well because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up diversifying its influence.
The thing about this feature is that it would make Twitter even more similar to Reddit, which is something that the social media platform is clearly going to be interested in. Twitter changed its retweet settings as well so that quote retweet numbers would be seen separately, thereby giving users a more accurate indication about whether most users agreed with a tweet or disagreed.
