It really seems like AI is going to be the next big thing in the world of tech. It is being used to optimize things from a lot of different perspectives including healthcare, driving and other things. With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that not everyone things that AI is the best thing to ever happen to tech. Indeed, one really prominent person that seems to have somewhat mixed feelings about AI is none other than former Google CEO Eric Schmidt.
Schmidt’s opinions on AI are mixed because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up allowing misinformation to spread as well as making it so that all manner of scams can become a great deal easier for someone or the other to look into implementing. That said, his opinions on AI were decidedly not entirely negative with all things having been considered and taken into account. In his opinion, AI can truly be used to make people’s lives better, but it is a bit of a double edged sword since it can be used to do some truly massive amounts of harm as well if we’re not careful.
However, the presence of AI in misinformation spreading as well as privacy violations can’t be ignored especially when you take into account how prevalent it is becoming. AI can predict what a user would want and when they would want it, and this might not actually be in the user’s best interests if you think about it. Quite on the contrary, it has the potential to do a level of damage that we might not currently be ready to address for a wide range of reasons and this might be why we should take its existence with a few grains of salt.
