During the prior quarters, mostly iOS users spent on these classes of apps, as most of the income was produced by Apple users as App Store is responsible for up to 83% of customers’ expenditure on photos, videos, and their subclasses of application in the 2Q21. However, the data shows some astonishing facts that Android users have surpassed the spending on these applications as Google Play is accounted for 126% YoY from 35 Million Dollars during the prior quarter to 78 Million Dollars in this quarter. The revenue per download of YouTube was increasing consistently during the last eighteen months but recently Twitch has crossed the RPD of YouTube during the second quarter. The revenue of Amazon has also increased up to 6.20 Dollars/download; however, the RPD of YouTube in the month of June is just 5.60 Dollars/download.
The data shows that Twitch saw an increasing number of users during the lockdown situations when the trend of video stream was increased up to the great extent in the US. This trend continued to grow during the first 2 quarters of 2021. The report also highlighted the increasing downloads of TikTok over other applications as this app has seen downloads up to twofold during the first half of this year. There is no doubt that people love to use TikTok for uploading their videos and even they like to use filters for editing their videos. The popularity of this application has increased a lot during the last few years. Especially, when the app introduced certain tools for the editing of videos and filters, it gained much fame among the users of the US. Despite the ban in the US that could not impact the growth of this application.
According to the report, TikTok has secured its 1st position on the US Apps Store as social snaps and video application since the first half of 2019, even though the competition of this app was with such popular photos and videos apps in the world such as Instagram, Snapchat, etc. During the first 2 quarters of this year, TikTok has seen the overall downloads from both App Store and Google Play up to 34.6 Million that is about twice than other top applications just like Snapchat, Triller, and Likes.
