The report shows that the number of mobile phone users in the US is about 294.15 million, as this number is increasing day by day, the number of smartphone-only internet users will also be increased simultaneously. 5G has also made it very easy to use the internet on smartphones.
According to the data of Pew research, the number of American adults ’smartphone users has increased up to 85% and this percentage was 84% two years back. Pew research has also shown some astonishing numbers that about 15% of grownups persons in the US are those who do not even have a smartphone. If this percentage does not look solid, it is actually the low level of possession of mobile phones in the older age and due to less income. There is no doubt that the usage of smartphone in all age groups have increased with the passage of time, but still, there is a difference in the percentage of smartphone users between different age groups.

The percentage of smartphone usage in the age group of 65 or above has increased up to 61% in this year, however, this percentage was about 53% in the year 2019, when similar research was conducted. There is a huge difference in the percentage when it comes to the usage of the smartphone by youngsters. The percentage of possession of smartphones is also increasing up to 71% by the age group of 65 to 74 years, but this percentage goes down up to 43% when we see in the age cohort of more than 75 years. It has also been seen that those people who are earning less than thirty thousand dollars per year are less likely to have a smartphone.
The report says that almost 25% of the US population do have a broadband connection at their homes due to the higher cost, as about 45% of users who do not own a broadband connection say that they do not want it because it increases their expenses. Due to higher costs, and after the launch of 5G, the number of users especially the age cohort of 18 to 29 who use the internet merely on their smartphones are increasing.
