To fight against this curse, TikTok has announced to collaborate with Technology Coalition which is an organization that works to protect online sexual exploitation and child abuse. The main priority of TikTok is to keep its platform safe for all people, especially teenagers. The latest membership shows the zero-tolerance of TikTok of child abuse and points out that this universal challenge needs a cooperative response.
TikTok believes that many companies and organizations will have to cooperate and, in this way, they can work better and stronger and therefore, TikTok feels proud to join this organization to deal with the curse of child abuse. Via this membership, TikTok believes to strengthen its evidence-based approach involvement and support its unique learning from tackling child safety and abuse. TikTok will join the Technology Coalition along with the number of commissions that aim to expand protections for teenagers online and off and rise the comprehensibility of evolving warnings to the safety of children.
This membership also collaborated with top organizations for the safety of children including Family Online Safety Institute, National Center for Missing and Exploiting Children, and Internet Watch Foundation that will surely help to confirm that the policies of platforms and features endure encouraging a safe and welcoming environment for the TikTok community. TikTok will bear any content that propagates the child abuse, harm, endanger, and harassment of minor children, as it is included in the community guidelines of TikTok. If the platform becomes alert of a content that is against the guidelines of the community, it will immediately cease the accounts, confiscate the content and report the case to NCMEC and law prosecution.
TikTok is a platform where people especially teenagers can share their content and they can learn in a creative way and the platform is working for the safety of the age of children from 13 to 17 years through different safeguard features like their account will become automatically private by default and only those who are over 16 years of age will be able to use the direct messaging service and live streaming. TikTok also believes that the involvement of parent of parents is very crucial in this matter, therefore, the platform provides tools like the Family pairing feature, which aims to inspire conversations among parents, guardians, and teens as they choose the browsing and privacy settings that suits well to their family. Through the family pairing feature, the parents and guardians can connect their TikTok account with the accounts of their teenagers in their family to watch the content and privacy settings such as screen time management and the settings of browsing.
