WhatsApp, a Facebook owned messaging app that lets the user share texts, voice messages, images, videos, documents, live location and much more, the app is famous for its end-to-end encrypted privacy service.
In the 4th quadrant of last year, WhatsApp Introduced its new feature “disappearing messages”. Just like the one provided by a famous snaps sharing app the Snapchat. However, unlike Snapchat that erases the message right after they are seen and can also be adjusted to a 24 hours setting. The disappearing feature provided by WhatsApp was used to be for messages older than 7 days. However, a researcher for this social media platform has unveiled an underlying secret that WhatsApp is planning to work on its disappearing messages feature and will be making different time slots available including removing messages after 24 hours. This new update was spotted by the fan group.
According to WABetaInfo, a reliable platform for all the new updates and features in several apps, WhatsApp is currently testing out its new 24 hours option for both iOS and Android devices. It is not the only new feature that is under testing however it will be one of the major upcoming update. According to WABI, this feature is still under development and is meant to add more privacy while sharing messages or any other important related document. Some screenshots were posted by WABI with three time options after which the message will no longer be available. These three options had 24 hours, 7 days and permanently off.
The time that will be taken for the feature to be available for general public has not been revealed yet, however it could be estimated that since the version is already in its beta testing phase and it is just a couple of months away to get official release. While this whole new feature is meant to increase more privacy between two parties while chatting at the same time it is important to keep in mind that still WhatsApp has not provided any way to prevent the messages from getting screen shot by other parties. Disappearing messages became trending when Snapchat introduced it and later almost every other messaging application including Signal and Telegram had their own similar features. WhatsApp is making sure to bring out its own version as well for all devices including WhatsApp for iOS , Android and even for the desktop version.
