TikTok has started to send notifications to its users that from April 15, they will not be able to skip the personalized ads on their screen just like on television and YouTube they have to watch the ads no matter what. TikTok has partnered with the advertisers but TikTok has also given priority to the interest of its users as, before these changes, users were seen general types of ads that were mostly not based on their interests. But now, TikTok will take all the data of users what they do on this platform and what are their interests. TikTok will automatically switch the settings on April 15, but users may be given control so that the ads may be more tailored to them according to their interests. Third-party advertisers will take all the data related to your interest and will show you ads so that you can buy their products.
This approach will increase the reach of these brands and it is possible that TikTok may get more brands in order to increase its revenue by selling advertisements but many users may not like these changes because they may get bound by these advertisements. Users will be able to switch the ads back to general but unfortunately; they will have no option to skip such ads. To opt-in or op- out of the personalized ads settings, users need to go to the right hand setting on the upper screen on the profile page and tap on the privacy under their account settings. Users can now click on personalization and data, personalization ads on or off. TikTok is trying to build a strong connection between the users and brands but TikTok will maintain the privacy of the users.
