With people experimenting and trying out new games a lot of people downloaded new games from the Google and App stores. As of this January 2021, a company called Sensor Tower from its Intelligence platform revealed a list of games that were the top most downloaded between January 2020 and 2021, while the games position varied every month the company’s list as of January 2021 showed that the following games were sporting on the top.
Join Clash 3D which was produced by Supersonic Studios had almost 27 million installs and became the most downloaded game from around the globe in January 2021. The countries which showed the most rating in installment of the game were India at 38.3 percent of its total downloads and Indonesia at 6.4 percent. The installs increased with a very high rate of almost 3300 times increase since January 2020.
The game which stood on the runner up on the list of most installed game was the same one which was leading the chart since August 2020. However, unfortunately Among Us dropped to the second position. However, though there was a drop in the downloads rate by 83 million since September, the company has accumulated 322.5 million lifetime downloads from the App Store and Google Play until last month (January 2021). The game was downloaded the most in United States at 15.5 percent, followed by Brazil at approximately 8 percent.
The third, fourth and fifth in rankings of the most downloaded games in January 2021 were DOP 2 and Sushi Roll 3D from Say Games, and Project Makeover from Bubblegum Games respectively in positions throughout the globe.
While these games were the best and most downloaded ones in January meaning people did install and played them a lot. These were not the most grossing games of the month. Wait, if you do not know what grossing games mean, let me tell you. The most grossing games are those that have collected the top most revenue in the gaming world in a particular month. So while the company did give a list of the top most downloaded games it also gave a separate list of which games brought the most revenue with itself in January 2021.
The top of the list was Honor of Kings from Tencent with a collected revenue of $267.3 million in player spending. Almost 97 percent of Honor of Kings’ revenue was from China backed up by 1 percent from Thailand. Tencent saw an increase in revenue of about 22 percent since last January 2020 in Honor of Titans which is by far very huge.
The second in line has been an ever favorite of the public for a long time now. PUBG Mobile by Tencent generated about more than $259 million in gross revenue which is approximately an increase of 26 percent since last year January 2020. The regions that generated the most revenue in this game were China with 60 percent share in the generated revenue followed by the United States with a 9.8 percent.
The fourth in line was Fate/Grand Order from Sony’s Aniplex and while much information was not provided on the revenue it gained, the fifth in line did surely gained a huge success. Genshin Impact from miHoYo and Roblox from Roblox Corporation was on number 5 and gained a revenue of almost $153.4 million in January 2021. The countries that took the most part in generating the games revenue were Japan in the lead with approximately 33 percent of player spending, followed by China with 25.7 percent of all revenue, and the U.S. with 17.4 percent.
While all the above games in the grossing list are not new and have been making their place since a long time in the top five people did see a new entry on the list. Professional Baseball Spirits A of Konami celebrated their best month ever gaining a revenue of $112.5 million which is thrice the increase since January 2020 with a life time revenue of 1.3 billion dollars.
While all these games have maintained their positions in the top for the most installed and the most grossing, the gaming community is huge and companies are always producing and putting forward new games for the public. So games that are on the top now may not be on top the next month. This is a changing cycle and we will see which of the above game stay on the chart and what new games join them next month.
