Report Suggests Microsoft Tried Acquiring Pinterest

Ever since certain tech companies started to grow rapidly, a race has begun with regards to the kinds of mergers and acquisitions that these companies can end up taking part in all of which are supposedly meant to diversify the range of services that they are currently able to provide. Facebook’s acquisitions of Instagram and WhatsApp proved to be incredibly successful and they helped turn Facebook into a powerhouse in the world of social media and tech, and Google’s acquisitions of services such as YouTube have come to define the internet over the past decade in a really big way.

Microsoft has been trying to expand quite a bit as well, and the company’s acquisition of LinkedIn is the sort of thing that has resulted in its successful entry in the world of social media which is the sort of thing that tech companies generally have to think about looking into if they want to be sure that they can remain viable in the long run. With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that LinkedIn is a rather one dimensional social media platform since it is meant for networking and the like rather than actual social interaction.

Hence, it should come as no surprise that Microsoft is considering doubling down on its social media expansion by considering purchasing Pinterest. This would be an incredible move by Microsoft since Pinterest has become a real grower in the world of social media, and if Microsoft is able to purchase it the result would be that Microsoft might just get the chance to expand its social media credentials even further. A potential LinkedIn and Pinterest integration could also occur which is the sort of thing that could possibly even give Facebook a run for its money and put the social media giant’s monopoly at risk.

Note: FT, reported that the talks of acquisition is not active now.
