Mark Zuckerberg Meets with the Executives for Facebook's Future Roadmap

Facebook executives talk about the criticism faced by the company at the year-end meeting on Tuesday. They also sought to rally employees around business priorities like commerce and virtual reality.

Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg told his team that the only way forward is to keep working. He acknowledged the fact that criticism of Facebook has hurt staff morale. But he said that some of the pushbacks came from rivals – which they have plenty.

He argued that the competitors want to see them fail so they can succeed. This is why it’s important that the company just doesn’t accept criticism reflexively. Instead, use a hands-on-approach to minimize the backlash.

Despite everything, Zuckerberg and the other executives who met on Tuesday kept their focus largely on technologies and product priorities.

According to Zuckerberg, the company had a ‘unique’ opportunity around commerce and payments. They are also working on tools that would enhance collaboration between people working remotely.

Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg concluded the meeting and thanked the team for their ongoing support especially during the pandemic. She further said that 20,000 have joined the Facebook base this year, including 17,000 who were hired after the pandemic hit.
