Apple’s latest iPhone 12 and 12 Pro are the talk of the town these days with their recent launch just a few weeks ago. Apple has been working around the MagSafe accessories which are claimed to make wireless charging fast and effortless. According to the product overview, MagSafe wireless chargers support perfectly aligned magnets that attach to the new iPhone 12 and 12 Pro models while providing a fast charging experience up to 15 Watts.
These MagSafe chargers are compatible with the good old Qi charging methods, and they can be used to wirelessly charge iPhone 8 and later versions as well as AirPods with a wireless case for charging. But this magnetic alignment is only restricted to iPhone 12 and 12 Pro models.
Now, as much as Apple seems to have been gushing about this MagSafe wireless charger and how fast it charges, it seems that for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 12 Mini, this charger’s speed will slow down to 12 Watts. This is a little disappointing, but still, it is better than the charging speed of the iPhone 12 Mini on a regular Qi wireless charger, which is almost up to 7.5 Watts.
On the other hand, people are not really happy with the MagSafe wireless charger too! In fact, many people think that this whole magnetic alignment actually takes some time, and it is better to plug in a cable if someone wants to charge at a faster speed! According to people, this MagSafe wireless charger is not as efficient as Apple likes to make people believe.
iPhone 12 Mini has the same specifications and features as that of the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro. It has the same A14 Bionic chip, a wide-angled dual-camera system, and supports 5 G networks. It is just the size that is going to be different. iPhone 12 Mini will have a 5.4-inch screen. So, it probably means that a smaller phone will have a smaller battery size too, and if we think about it, 12 Watts for charging a small phone is actually not that big of an issue.
Anyway, this mini iPhone 12 will start rolling out in the following months for $729. Let us see how people react to it once it is actually out and they get to use it and see for themselves about the impact of the charging speed.
