It goes without saying that social media has become a major part of our everyday lives. Whether you are using social media for connecting with your friends and family or for expanding your business, platforms such as Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc. have helped turn the world into a global village.
But not everyone has good things to say about social media. In fact, some people have even stated that such platforms have had a negative impact on their lives. And to give us a clear picture of the impact social media has on people’s lives, AudienceProject conducted a study and published its findings.
People from multiple countries were surveyed and surprisingly, one-third of the participants claimed that social has had a positive impact on their lives. In Finland, a whopping 41% of the participants credited social media for positively impacting their lives.
When it comes to people criticizing social media for negatively impacting their lives, less than one-fifth of the participants had the same feeling. In Finland and Germany, only 8% agreed to this and in the US, this percentage was the highest (17%).
Around half of the participants from multiple countries claimed that social media isn’t impacting their lives at all. This thought process was found in 54% of German participants. Interestingly, the percentage of the surveyed Americans and Finnish people citing social media as an insignificant factor impact-wise turned out to be the same (45%).
