Alessandro Paluzzi, a mobile app researcher has recently revealed that Facebook is working on a new feature for Instagram Reels, called ‘Audio Mix.’ He says that this Audio Mix option may be pretty similar to TikTok’s ‘Voiceover’ option.
This is certainly an interesting update. Instagram expanded ‘Reels’ a little while ago, and it is claimed to be a new, interesting way to create 15-second long short videos. It is very similar to another famous short-form video-sharing app, TikTok.
Just like in TikTok, here also users can record and edit 15-second long video clips with music that can be selected from Instagram’s music library. These short videos can then be posted in Stories, Explore feed, and the new Reels tab on a user’s profile.
The voiceover feature on TikTok was introduced in April 2020, and it gives the users ability to add their voice to any video they create. It can be used for a video in which they narrate a story, or they can add their voice to a song. Or it can simply be used to describe something on camera. There are endless possibilities with this tool, and it gives a whole new ‘personal’ and creative feel to the content they create on the app.
According to Alessandro Paluzzi, Instagram’s Audio Mix feature is likely to be very similar to TikTok’s voiceover feature, and if that turns out to be true, it is going to be quite exciting for all the Instagram users who are also fond of TikTok.
TikTok itself is going through a bad phase and it is in the process of getting banned in some countries, including India and the USA. But its short-form videos are extremely popular, and people love to use TikTok for entertainment as well as for brand-influencer-marketing approach. Many rival companies like Facebook and YouTube are bringing features similar to TikTok for their users now. Recently, Google Discover also released a new feature called ‘Short Videos’ on its carousel, which shows quick videos from apps like Trell and Tangi. So, it is quite evident that TikTok has left a great mark on the lives of its users and in the minds of the app creators and developers.
Let us see what Instagram Reels brings on the table. So far it looks very interesting, and the additional features like Audio Mix are going to make it more fun to use.
