On Tuesday, Facebook-owned Instagram announced that its is rolling out a new feature that will allow all users across the globe to pin comments on their posts. This indicates that users can now pluck up to three comments they most want to highlight out of the comment section of their posts and pin them to the top.
With the new feature, users will be able to save positive, funny, or important comments at the top of the comment section of their posts. Instagram tweeted that, users can now pin a few comments at the top of their feed posts to better manage their conversations.
According to the company, the intention behind pinned comments is to highlight positivity in the comments section of your feed posts. Personally, I would also like to pin positive comments to the top of the comments section of my posts. You may also note that Instagram’s algorithm sorts the comments section. This indicates that some comments might get lost in the shuffle.
Here is how to pin a specific comment to the top of the comments section of your post. When you are one of your posts on Instagram, look for the comment you like and want to pin it at the top of the comments section. You will need to swipe left on that comment, and four different options will appear on the side.
Those four options include from left to right: pin, reply, report, and trash. The pin option looks like a corkboard pin and allows you to pin a specific comment to the top of the comments section of your posts. Using the reply option, you can post a reply to that comment. You also report a specific comment by using the report option. If you want to delete a comment on your post, you can use the trash option.
With the new feature, users can pin up to 3 comments to the top of the comments section. After a person has pinned each comment, the comment will appear at the top of the comments section. This suggests that the pinned comments will hopefully influence the conversation or provide context to the photo. If someone has pinned your comment, you will receive a notification. The new feature is one more step to curating your comments on the Instagram app to your liking.
