Facebook has introduced its set of Avatars – a replica of Snapchat’s Bitmoji for the users in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
According to Facebook, the Avatars would be a self-expression tool and will make communication across the social media network more fun!
The Avatars can be accessed from the sticker tray in the comment section of a News Feed. They will also be available in Messenger.
Snapchat introduced their Bitmoji – an instant hit with the user’s couple of years ago. Many companies including Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi tried to replicate the feature – however, no one was able to satisfy the users like Snapchat.
In February 2020, Snapchat also introduced Bitmoji TV, a series of 4-minute comedy cartoons with user’s avatars. Snapchat has also revealed that 70% of its daily active users have created their own Bitmojis.
As of yet, Facebook has not shared how its user base has received the Avatars feature. The spokesperson for the company said that they would share feedback once people start using it in the mainstream.
Only time will tell whether Avatar will be as successful as Snapchat’s Bitmoji. But lack of availability to the global public may make it difficult to comprehend its impact on social media users.
