After the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, people across the globe are using messaging and video chat apps more than usual to connect to their friends and family members as the governments across the globe have imposed lockdowns to stop the spread of the virus. The major reason for this surged usage of video chat applications might be the fact that a lot of employers have asked their employees to work from home.
During the past few weeks, these video chat apps have been featured with new quick tools and these tools focus on making work from home trouble-free for the employees. WhatsApp is also one of those companies working to make work from home convenient for its users. Reportedly, WhatsApp is now working on a new tool that will allow users to add more than four people to a video group chat or audio group chat. Currently, WhatsApp only allows adding a maximum of four participants in a video or audio group call.
According to the WABetainfo, the number of people who can join a group video chat or audio chat may rise in the coming days. WABetainfo reveals that the number of people participating in a group call will be between 6 and 12 and will be an even number of participants.
The new tool will be made available to both iOS and Android devices. WhatsApp has not yet announced when the new feature will be made available to App Store or Google Play store but we hope to see it soon rolled out for public use.

In these efforts, WhatsApp also released a new tool that aims to make it easier for the users to initiate a group video chat or audio chat. The new feature works in a way that you only have to tap on the video chat or audio chat icon within a WhatsApp group chat to start a conference call directly with every participant of the group chat. Obviously, you could only add four or less than four people to the conference call before but it may change soon when WhatsApp releases the new feature.
