WhatsApp is constantly bringing new features in order to keep up with other messaging apps – and to maintain its position as the globally preferred service for messages.
And now it is planning to launch an ‘automatic message delete’ feature – a vital feature of several messaging services.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is testing automatic delete messages feature for private and group chats, both. The test feature is available on its beta versions 2.20.82 and 2.20.84.
The self-destruction of the messages would work as the name implies: the user can set a timer for the messages, ranging from 1 hour to a year. An alarm clock will appear next to the selected messages and will remove them as per their schedule.
A similar feature is successfully implemented by other messaging platforms including Snapchat and Telegram for a few months as well. And seems like WhatsApp is also following suit and planning to integrate the functionality in their service as well.
However, the Facebook-owned app has not yet made any clarification regarding the status of the feature and we are unsure whether it will make its way up to the stable version for all users. But as with all features under development mode, we can just wait and keep our fingers crossed.
Let us know what you think of the feature in the comments below. Would it make a good addition to WhatsApp or should the company focus on bringing other usable functions?
