Twitter is now giving iOS users the ability to turn their Live Photos in GIFs – anywhere on the social media network. As of yet, the company has not clarified whether the same protocol would work for Pixel motion photos as well.
Apple introduced Live Photos feature on its iPhone 6s in 2015. Simultaneously with the release, Tumblr and Facebook allowed their users to share them on their social media networks as well, while Google allowed their conversion into GIFs since 2016.
From 2017, Apple users were able to embed the Live Photos to any website.
And now, Twitter is also onboard and bringing more features for the Live Photos users. According to another announcement by Twitter, users can also preserve JPEG encoding on photos of up to 16 megapixels, from the web. Previously, this was only allowed through the transcoding method, which many users complained impacted image quality. However, it seems that Twitter is innovating the feature and bringing more functionality for the iPhone Twitteratis.
