Facebook Messenger has become a real mainstay as far as the way we communicate is concerned, and a lot of this has to do with the fact that it has become an entity that is at least partially separate from the social media platform itself. Adding new features has been quite common in order to make Messenger as popular as possible in every single way, and this has led to the messaging app incorporating voice and video calling into the mix as well as a variety of other features.
The latest feature that is coming to Messenger is another really important one, it was initially spotted by Jane Manchun Wong back in August. The feature being rolling out essentially involves you being able to share your screen with someone that you are video chatting with. This can be immensely useful in a wide variety of situations, but it is also something that a lot of competitors have been offering for a while now so it was important that Messenger start offering it as well lest they come up short and people start moving to other platforms.
The screen sharing feature is currently only being tested out with a small group of beta testers which means that there is a good chance that the vast majority of general users don’t have it yet, but it has been working well for the few users that have been able to test it out. This is a cool new feature that can bring screen sharing into the Facebook family for the first time, thereby bringing it on par with the seminal features that Skype introduced years ago. Most of the time Facebook tends to be ahead of the curve, but in this instance it seems that the social media platform fell behind but it at the very least managed to catch up before the lack of a certain feature ended up causing any serious harm all in all.
