Pinterest is finally rolling out Dark Mode for iOS and Android Users

A lot of technology companies and social media platforms have started to become aware of the impact that tech overuse tends to have on people. One impact that has become quite widely known as of late has to do with the kind of effect that overusing your phone or staying on social media for too long could potentially end up having on your sleep cycle. The light that comes from your phone has the potential to trick your brain into thinking that it’s daytime even if it’s nighttime and you need to sleep soon. The light that comes from your phone can also tire your eyes out and potentially cause damage to your eyes if you are not careful.

This is why a lot of apps are starting to introduce a dark mode which is basically a version of the app that does not have any bright colors in it. Twitter introduced night mode, Reddit has a dark mode, and now Pinterest is joining the club after a number of users commented on the fact that they wanted a dark theme.

Pinterest conducted research that indicated that its users often browsed its content discovery network at the end of the day. The main reason for this is that they found using Pinterest to be a more or less relaxing experience all in all, and this is why it was quite important for Pinterest to try and offer a dark mode to its users.
"We’re giving Pinners around the world the option to flip Pinterest to dark mode, which can be easier on the eyes, better for nighttime browsing and in some cases, helpful with battery life.", announced Pinterest team in a newsroom post.
Both iOS and Android users will be able to access the dark mode in the app by going into settings, and Android users will also have the option of going into their phone settings to turn the dark mode on. This update is going to help bring Pinterest on par with a number of other social media apps that it is currently competing with.
