Instagram was a game changer in the world of social media, providing a brand new platform that people could use in order to share images that they felt were quite relevant to their day to day needs and at the same time providing filters that people could use in order to make their images seem more professionally shot and giving them aesthetic qualities that were previously very difficult to achieve all in all. This is why Facebook acquired the platform rather quickly and tried to position it as their image sharing division providing numerous opportunities for users to take advantage of the services being offered.
Over the past year, Instagram’s newly appointed head in charge Adam Mosseri has been managing the platform quite well, even though he has been faced with quite a few problems many of which have to do with the competition that Instagram faced from up and coming social media platforms such as Snapchat. While Facebook has made it so that Instagram ended up remaining the dominant image sharing platform with Snapchat mostly unable to come out on top, the journey has been quite a stressful one and Mosseri recently revealed his plans for Instagram’s future now that the storm has passed.

Mosseri recently posted on Instagram starting off by saying how grateful he is for the opportunity he has been given. Instagram recently passed a billion users which is a pretty big milestone, and it seems like Mosseri’s game plan is that he wants to make Instagram more socially conscious and continue focusing on its community centered roots which will be a relief for people who might have worried about the image sharing platform losing its soul after the original founders of the platform left due to creative differences they had with their parent company Facebook, something that reflected some tension within the ranks at the social media platform’s headquarters.

"The heart of Instagram is expression. We celebrate culture, we are a platform for diverse voices, and we give young people a place to express the different sides of themselves.", explained Mosseri in a Instagram story. Adding further, "We want you [users] to be able to feel close to anyone you care about. We [at Instagram] want to be a place where people can come and be inspired every day. We need to be a place where people can be who they want to be. We want anyone with a passion to be able to turn that passion into a business."
