The RSHP took a poll from more than 2,000 social media users which included adults and teens and found the result of like button as the most harmful feature even more toxic than push notifications. The push notification feature created by apps is all meant to keep the audience indulged in using them without them even knowing it but according to the poll by RSHP, the like feature is affecting more lives than the push notifications.
All the users of social apps have authority to modify push notifications according to their requirements but the likes on posts can’t be controlled and that is why it is considered to be the most harmful feature of social media platforms.
Recently, Facebook started a new campaign with a new prototype of Instagram specifically designed for selected countries to test the response of the people to no visible likes on posts anymore. This new step by Instagram is meant to help users get away from the craze of getting likes and that is why it is testing this new feature to not show any likes on posts at all.
The reason behind the study by RHSP was meant to aware people and help them create a more balanced life with social apps. Users are so much engaged in getting more likes that they are failing to make any real-time connection. So, with this study, they wanted to display companies to help and build a meaningful use of social media platforms along with the connection of the user outside of digital media.
