Amazon ranks as the world’s most valuable brand – overtaking Apple and Google

Amazon becomes the world’s most valuable brand at $315.5 billion – surpassing the other tech giants like Google and Apple. According to the BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brand ranking 2019, Amazon managed to reach the threshold with a 52% increase since the last years study.

Apple comes at second position with $309.5 billion while Google ranks at third place with $309 billion. Both Google and Apple spent a combined 12 years at the top tier with Google at the top position in 2018.

The global head of BrandZ says that Amazon experienced a significant brand value growth since last year. This is primarily because the brand is selling a variety of services without limiting the geographical boundaries.

Amazon has also been increasing investments with other companies like Aurora – the self-driving car startup and electric truck company Rivian along with expanding its airplane entity – Amazon Air. Amazon also acquired the online pharmacy service PillPack for $753 million last year while it also led a $575 million funding for food delivery company Deliveroo.

In the BrandZ rankings, technological companies have always held prominent positions. For example, Microsoft came in fourth place, as it did in 2018 as well.

Facebook, secured 6th position in the ranking, while, Instagram — the media sharing platform owned by Facebook — almost doubled in value, rising 95 percent year-on-year to become the fastest-rising brand in the BrandZ Global Top 100 ranking.
