Facebook had a lot to reveal during its annual F8 conference. However, several of its surprises was already spoiled about an hour before the conference started, by none other than Jane Manchun Wong, a renowned Social Media code hacker who uncovers latest features.
Wong posted a tweet, along with a screenshot, regarding the new update Facebook is currently working on. It is the unification of UI’s of Events and Local Recommendations. As seen in the screenshot, the same interface will display three options i.e. You, Things To Do and Places To Go.
You will be able to switch between the 3 options in a matter of milliseconds, thanks to the merged UI.
Thus, based on your location, you will be able to check-out your upcoming events, daily recommendations regarding cool places to hang out and dine in, and many other things.
Wong later added that a “Nearby Friends” option is also being redesigned. She believes that Facebook is most probably working on a full-sized map with a bottom sheet displaying all the options.
It remains to be seen whether Facebook has something else in mind for the unified UI of its map-based features or is it just working on final touches so the update can be rolled out globally sooner rather than later. Stay tuned for further updates!
