Facebook introduced Watch party feature to let users watch videos online along with their friends. Now this is being moved to the next level were traditional TV shows, only sports shows for now, will be hosted by Facebook users on the platform. This would let users, who are part of the party to cheer their teams in chat, different polls could be created along with trivia questions related to players.
This would create more excitements in group chats. Facebook has started testing the new feature in many groups whenever a sports event is going on, like during UEFA Champions League. It would further be extended to hosting all kinds of live events, including award shows, premiers etc.
Not only TV shows, but the company will be catering to music lovers as well. Users will be given the option to attach a song to their profile, and an option for the visitors to listen to a full song by following the link directing to Spotify. Facebook said it will soon get along with other music partners also, giving users a variety of options to choose from.
Allowing users to watch videos that are not posted online on the platform, may be a common practice. But the basic purpose of it could be attaining the attention of users rather than earning from this feature specifically.
