Apple Challenges Netflix & Amazon With New TV+ Streaming Service - More Details On Updated Apple TV Inside

So it’s official; Apple is coming out with all guns blazing to compete against the giants of entertainment industry online - Netflix and Amazon Video. It was anticipated for months and going by the announcement, the iPhone makers have something special in store for everyone with their Apple TV+ and an upgraded Apple TV.

During the special March 25 Keynote, held at Steve Jobs Theater, Apple Park, Tim Cook introduced the company’s own subscription based streaming services to the world, Apple TV+. To make sure that his move gets all the right hype, Apple has planned on to start the originals with well-known entertainment talents such as Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon (The Morning Show), Kumail Nanjiani (Little America), Steve Spielberg, J.J. Abrams, and Oprah Winfrey.

As stated by each of the celebrity on stage and Apple’s executives, creating an impact with powerful content for every type of viewer will be the platform’s utmost priority. And to excite the fans even more, Apple has promised to add new shows every month, once the service gets launched in over 100 countries around the world this fall.

Unfortunately, Apple didn’t disclose anything about the pricing of Apple TV+ and remained very specific in providing further details. Tim and his company directed to all of such concerns in the press release by telling that “Pricing and availability for the Apple TV+ video subscription service will be announced later this fall”.

Another thing that dominated the event was a revamped Apple TV with a new Apple Channels section for iOS. Now, it doesn’t matter if you get your TV from a streaming service like Prime Video, Hulu, or ESPN+; movies from iTunes; sports, news and network TV from cable or satellite; or shows from HBO, ShowTime, and Starz, customers can choose their favorite shows, pay for subscriptions and log in to all the channels with one password in the Apple TV app.

All of the listed channels will provide ad-free content, which users can also download for offline viewing. As a bonus, you can also share it with family members via Apple's Family Sharing feature on its devices.
There is also a new interface to accommodate the changes; divided into "Up Next" section that lets you pick up right where you left off and "For You" uses machine learning to recommend new similar content based on your subscriptions.

Apple’s new TV app will roll out this May. The experience will be bigger and better it will simultaneously be available on Macbook, smart TVs (Samsung, LG, Sony, and Vizo) and even Roku or Amazon Fire TV devices.
