If there is one thing Facebook needs, it is for people to start trusting it again. In light of this the social media giant has launched what it is calling its Privacy and Data Use Business Hub which you can use to ensure that your data remains as safe as possible while you are using this social media platform. According to Erin Egan, Facebook’s Chief Privacy Officer, this is an attempt on Facebook’s part to make data protection and privacy something that is a great deal easier to accomplish than it currently is.
This is just one of the many new privacy and security options that Facebook is going to be providing you with. Another cool new feature that’s coming is the “Clear History” option. This will basically enable you to delete all of your activity from Facebook’s databases, thus making it impossible for the social media platform to maintain a record of what you have been up to on the site. This is something that a lot of people are going to appreciate because of the fact that we often get a little unnerved by just how much Facebook genuinely has on all of us!
Facebook will also be giving people a reminder of sorts that they should check their privacy protocols. It will be giving people this reminder on their newsfeed, and it is doing all of this in order to celebrate Data Privacy Day. While it’s fair to say that a lot of this might just be too little too late and many people are still going to feel like Facebook is no longer worthy of their trust and that it never was, but this is definitely a step in the right direction, one that is heartening to see.
