After a storm of complaints regarding Twitter's policies for the site, and its innumerable efforts to counter them — which frankly failed to impress the users — the company has aimed to filter its pool of Trends as a new measure taken against malicious content.
The company is now offering the users an opportunity to report a disturbing Trend that is causing you any kind of discomfort and making you think twice before opening your account on the site.
This could have its negative implications as well, as it gives anyone with even a slight issue with the Trend to contribute to breaking it. But, no matter how you see it, this feature provided by the company to help the users command the waters of the Twitter’s seas, will definitely help them feel safer on the site and not be bothered by anything disturbing that's a ‘Trend’.
This was discovered and revealed in a Tweet by Matt Navarra and Giuseppe Foresta on September 10th and no more details than his tweeted pictures are known as yet.
This new feature will allow users to tell Twitter what they feel about a particular trending hashtag from "Trends for you" section. Users will have the option to pick "This trend is spam", "Harmful", "Duplicate", "Low quality" or "The associated content is not relevant".
