Most people these days tend to use Gmail for all of their email based needs. Gmail provides an excellent platform that is very easy to use, not to mention the fact that they provide enormous amounts of storage as well, which can really help you make the most of your inbox, because you won’t have to keep deleting emails every other day. It is safe to say that the once ubiquitous Hotmail has been left far behind, as well as the only other competitor these two email giants had Yahoo Mail. Yahoo Mail is rarely used, but there are still quite a few people out there that use this platform fairly frequently for one reason or another.
However, if you are the sort of person that uses Yahoo Mail, you should stop using it as quickly as possible. This is because of the fact that the company that owns Yahoo, Oath which is in turn owned by the notorious Verizon, has been discovered to scan commercial emails that you get in an attempt to track what you purchase on the internet, according to The Wall Street Journal. They use this information for purposes that you might not like as well, essentially using the data that contains the things you buy and how often you buy them to figure out what products would be most effectively marketed to you. While this is definitely in the user agreement, it is not the information that everyone has, so it is very important to keep it in mind if you want to use your email safely.

Gmail has been doing this FOREVER. Not saying Yahoo! is in the clear, but seriously.
ReplyDeleteIndeed. This is the whole reason Google offers Gmail for free: So they can read all your e-mails and target ads at you. People are sacrificing their privacy (quite a bit of it, in fact) for free e-mail. Of course, it has always been possible to "sniff" e-mails as they travel around the Internet anyway, so e-mail has never been actually secure. But yeah, this is definitely no reason to switch from Yahoo to GMail. Maybe there are others...
