In the wake of Facebook’s recent privacy scandal, Instagram has decided to reduce the number of times a developer can use the API to ping Instagram. Moreover, it has also imposed a restriction on others in terms of data collection.
As per the sources, Instagram’s Platform API usual rate limit was 5,000 calls per hour. However, on Friday, it was declined to as low as 200 calls per hour.
It is pertinent to mention that the developers were not informed about the development beforehand. Subsequently, developers will now not be able to collect the data from Instagram as frequently and freely as they were permitted in the past. The developers are definitely not pleased with the sudden changes, understandably so!
