According to Google’s developer portal today update, Android 7.0 is officially declared as the most-used operating system. As many as 28.5% of the devices use both variants of Android 7.0 and 7.1.
The second most-used Android operating system on mobile is Android 6.0 Marshmallow which was released back in 2015 as it secured a percentage of 28.1. The latest Android 8.0 Oreo update stands at No. 6 position as it witnessed an increase of 1.1% in adoption in comparison to 0.2% in October 2017.
There are roughly 2 billion active users of Android which is an indication that different versions of Android are being used for the last 5 years. Less than 25% of the Android devices still use Android 5 Lollipop from 2014 while 12% Android devices use Android 4.4 KitKat from 2013.
