The new Star Wars film “The Rise of Skywalker” is releasing next week and Facebook is helping fans celebrate this through a number of Star Wars-themed features on messenger.
New AR effects have been added that can be used during a video call through Messenger or post on Messenger Stories. Stories can be posted on Facebook as well but through Messenger only. Users can also share these stories on Instagram too, by saving them and then reposting on their Instagram accounts.
Facebook, while explaining the effects, said you can now experience the whole world with Lightspeed Effect by jumping into hyperspace. The battle is between the Dark vs Light side of Force and chooses your side with Dark vs Light Effect.
There are also other themed stickers, emojis and background theme for Messenger Threads, like a starry background theme.
The visuals have been designed in collaboration with Disney to give fans another chance to celebrate and engage in the Star Wars hype.
The Star Wars AR effects can be used like other effects on Messenger, whereas to enable the Star Wars chat theme, open the Messenger thread, open the thread settings by clicking the name of the thread. Go to “Theme” and select the Star Wars chat theme for your thread.
These updates are live on Messenger from now on.
